Chemical Monitoring

Monitoring Water Quality Across the Catchment

At the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust Laboratory we have the necessary equipment to test water quality parameters relevant to the core aspects of our work. Our testing team works on collecting data for 12 months across individual rivers and streams, allowing us to build a picture of the pattern of water quality. We monitor monitor phosphate, nitrate and ammonia as well as a number of things related to the amount of particles travelling within the water.

This provides us with the basic information we need to focus and develop projects or to monitor the projects we have delivered,  both vital to improve our rivers.

Of course, these aren’t the only “nasties” in our rivers and where necessary we use UKAS accredited laboratories to undertake more site-specific testing.

We are always looking for support to carry on our water testing so visit our Get Involved pages to see how you can help.
