Adur Adaptation Project End of Year Report

Adur Adaptation Project End of Year Report

We’re delighted to share our first project update, marking the completion of year two of the Adur Adaptation Project.

Delivered in partnership with the Environment Agency and West Sussex County Council, the project is building strong momentum, with gradual but meaningful change now taking shape across the catchment.

Through natural flood management, habitat restoration and improvements to water quality, we are beginning to reconnect the River Adur with its surrounding landscape—creating lasting benefits for both people and wildlife. Even at this stage, the project is demonstrating how working with nature can support a healthier, more resilient river system.

Our end-of-year report, available to view here, highlights what has been achieved over the past 12 months and sets out the growing, long-term benefits of this investment in the River Adur.

Looking ahead, we are well positioned to deliver further improvements across a number of sites. With the support of landowners and land managers, a range of opportunities has already been identified for the coming year.

This progress would not have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers. A total of 239 people have contributed their time and energy—planting trees, creating hedgerows and installing leaky dams. We are hugely grateful to every one of them.

We would also like to thank our supporters and partners who have provided additional funding and in-kind support, including the Woodland Trust, Bupa, Kew at Wakehurst Place and Browns.

It’s an exciting time for the River Adur, and we look forward to sharing more updates as the project continues to grow.
