Riverfly Training Day

May 19, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The River Ouse starts in the High Weald and flows through Sheffield Park on its way to the sea at Newhaven. Over time the river has been modified, as industry and land use has changed around it, leaving much of it  straightened, deepened and disconnected from the floodplain.

A restoration project is now underway to re- establish natural processes and improve habitats for river and terrestrial species. Part of this work involves monitoring the river and its wildlife and OART and the National Trust are looking for volunteers to help with sampling invertebrates as an indicator of river health.

This free event will teach you how to identify and survey  for river invertebrates. The morning will be inside learning about the technique and identification with field work in the afternoon. Please bring your own lunch and waders if you have them.Tea and coffee provided.

If you would like to attend, please email info@oart.org.uk to make sure we’re expecting you.
